At Gentleman's Roastery Lab, we roast coffee from single farms, plantations and cooperatives. When we find a coffee we like, we want to get to know where it grows, the people who grow, harvest and process it. We travel all year round, visiting the producers we work with, in search of interesting varieties and new farms. During these trips, we talk to the farmers about the coffee they grow and the challenges they face. Only then do we decide whether to build a partnership with them and the exporter of their coffee. We believe that by creating close partnerships, we can very easily negotiate our supplies, prices and quality requirements within an open and equal dialogue. This is what we call fair and sustainable trade.
